A few CSU institutions do not yet have campus-based projects to develop their capability for Transforming Course Design. In parallel with the main Fall 2007 initiative on multi-campus collaborations described in the previous post, Provosts at the campuses not yet supported for a campus-based project will be invited to submit a proposal to launch a local initiative to develop their campus capability in Transforming Course Design. The goal is that by the end of the current academic year, every CSU campus will have received support to initiate a campus-centered effort to redesign one or more courses in order to achieve improved student learning while producing student and/or institutional cost savings. While funding of these initial projects will necessarily be limited in 2007- 08, we wish to position every campus to participate in the larger initiative expected in 2008-09. We expect to issue a mini-RFP to qualifying campuses immediately after the submission of nominated courses for the multi-campus collaborations, with a deadline for proposals in February 2008 (and the option to submit earlier). Contact me, tcarey@calstate.edu, for updates on this initiative.
